1. Absolutely there is pressure.
Pressure of the money on the line.
pressure of the tournament situation - be it money round or a critical score in the match or even a critical play at this moment
pressure from having a bad position
pressure from knowing you are about to get doubled
pressure from feeling unlucky
pressure from being the box
pressure from a large cube
pressure to perform (with the dice)
pressure from the opponent - who is playing quickly, confidently
pressure from the clock
pressure from being behind, in the match or for $$$
pressure from fear of making a mistake (a bad checker play or cube decision), especially when your opponent is very good and you feel he knows the correct play
pressure from fear of not embarrassing yourself for making a bad decision
pressure of feeling you must beat an inferior opponent
2. What to do? You can see from the above I am afraid of my own shadow!!
I don't know, except to just not worry about it. Easier said than done.
I like to listen to music - which may impact my play some but at least keeps my mind at ease from worrying about everything.
