I routinely play an ace with a builder on the last point of my prime, because it leaves a nicer looking structure and more "active" builders. Especially if the number of shots is the same and no other obvious factor prevents me from playing like that. So OTB I played 13/8 quickly and was surprised about XG telling me off.
Thank you Stick for this insightful explanation! Indeed 13/9 13/12 loses more gammons as you predicted, but it also loses more single games. Maybe that is because of a minor duplication: 5's run the back checker and 6's point on the 3 point?! I cannot find any other explanation.
