Playboy Million Dollar Backgammon Tournament Cancelled

Am I the only one who think I understand some parts of Mr. Pearson's message?
MCG states a lot of correct things about what should have been. And I guess Mr. Pearson agrees. But he cannot go around running satellites for his tournament at other TDs events, if they don't want to support him.
I guess that the "community feeling" he thinks we are lacking, has to do with TDs thinking 2+2=5. I can generate more action and interesting offers at "my" tournament, if I run qualifiers and advertizements for "his" tournament. All in all more tournaments more prize money and more media attention would be great for backgammon as a whole, and it would yield a larger potential population for "my" future tournaments.
----
That said, most of us - my self included - don't know how much effort mr. Pearson did in fact put in, promoting his event towards other TDs, or trying to. We can only see the "result" (not enough PR and satellites), but we cannot see the "why" here.

However, I think the strongest challenge here is the lack of a guaranteed prize pool of any considerable size. Many players willing to play at these stakes, doesn't quite plan ahead like us mortal nine-to-fivers do, and for sure they won't risk a buy-in this big, too long ahead of the event, only to see 8 players show up...
