I had my suspicions a while back. I wonder, if he was doing "extremely well internationally" why it all went so pear-shaped?:
Sent 3 April, 2012 - Dear Stephen, apart from Richard Biddle’s efforts (http://backgammonmillionsqualifier.webs.com/) what else is being done to fill the 128 entries? I have been on BGOnline forum recently (www.bgonline.org/forums/webbbs_config.pl) and there doesn’t appear to by much interest. Only one post (http://www.bgonline.org/forums/webbbs_config.pl?noframes;read=118913) on the subject from me has been posted and not a single reply. Most of the the top players in the world post on this forum and yet not one of them has added anything to the subject. This doesn’t auger well for an expected entry of 128 players @ £6,400 each!
What else is being done (I am doing my small bit) to promote the event? Are there other ‘Richards’ out there doing their bit? If so, let’s tell everyone, else I can’t see more than a handful of entrants coming forward.
Reply 3 April, 2012 - We have no concerns at all about the filling of the seats and things are progressing extremely well internationally.
