Stick: You just make the right decision and what happens happens. In other sports you have to perform and there I understand pressure. I don't feel like one performs in backgammon.

This is where you seperate yourself from many other players. Your methodology of study and applying what you learned in a precise practise session allows you to say, "You just make the right decision and what happens happens." You play with a high degree of confidense that you are making the correct play and more importantly you KNOW WHY IT IS THE CORRECT PLAY! (please excuse the caps for adding emphasis. I do not know html) This in itself will eliminate a great deal of pressure.

Pressure does not have to be created from a physical performance. It can and does come into play from your thoughts. Your mental attitude can be your worst nightmare.

For some, money is a huge cause of pressure. If they lose, will they have lost money they needed for something else? Or maybe a person is comfortable with a certain amount of money/stakes, but can not handle higher stakes? Maybe you have a comfort level of money stakes higher than others and this allows you not to feel pressure. And I highly suspect youre smart enough to not wager a bet outside your comfort zone no matter what the situation is. Another reason not feeling pressure.

Let me share a story with you. I played 6 Ball on a 7' box with a guy in Akron in one of the drinking establishments. Never big money games there but there was lots of action. For $10 this guy played like a world beater. He was very tough to beat. $10 for whatever reason was his comfort zone. After struggling with him for hours at end I tried hard to get him to play for $20 a rack. He finally agreed and that was his downfall. He was outside his comfort zone and the thought of money got the best of him. You could see the little quiver in his stroke and how it caused him to miss shots he makes blindfolded for $10. For him it was not a physical issue. It was a mental issue. The thought of higher stakes (he was not accustomed to) caused him to think bad thoughts. Once I got him out of his comfort zone he was mine.
