#1 Jason...as of today i am expecting Paul Magriel, Robertie, Senk and KG at the Labor Day tourn..do i know why they are coming ? NO Other than KG, none of the others have ccome to Pgh inthe 17 yrs I have run the tourney. These Backgammon greats do not have a problem with POSSIBLY playing without a clock.. If b oth players are agreeable I have no problem with clocks being used at the tournament..I would suspect that most of your matches would have clocks in use..I AM NOT DENYING clocks from being used..In fact i am running a SPEEDGAMMON event which requires clocks...AS to answering your question...With 15-20 ABT tournaments a year around the USA offering differentiation aka no clocks mandatory is not a bad thing...If there was evidence that the vast majority of BG players would only attend tournaments with clocks, then I would offer tournaments with mandatory clock usage. I have ALWAYS believed in running tournaments with the players interest #1... Try to keep my rakes lower and offer the events players want..try to have play over by midnight as much as possible...Steve
