Clash of the Giants

There were only 15 entrants in the After tournament-tournament in San Francisco this weekend, so a very tired tournament director, Tobias Hellwag, reluctantly agreed to fill the 16 spot. Tobias had been presented his official document acknowledging him as the No. 19 Giant earlier in the day.

Toby went on to beat everyone, meeting No. 8 Giant, Kit Woolsey in the finals, and defeating him as well.

I did a very dumb thing. To encourage an intermediate player to enter the tournament and take the next-to-last spot where he would have to play me, I agreed to his terms to spot him a point. Naturally, he beat me 7-6!
