Proposal for Stick

In Response To: Proposal for Stick (Bill Phipps)

I'm in the door for tennis but out the door for happy hour so this will get a quick once over because I'd at least like to clear up a few of the loose ends in this post.

I asked that you or Iancho make public your online matches. There has been no reply from either of you.

I could have sworn I answered this. I told Iancho he could do whatever he wanted with my matches and he certainly has a lot more of my own matches than I do. I posted here on the forums all the matches from Gridgammon that I have available and I also posted any live matches and told anyone that if they wanted to look at even more matches they could find a lot of them on DailyGammon but to expect the PR to be much worse in those matches for obvious reasons. (obvious to those who play on DG any way)

What I don't think you nor David realize is that this kind of shit is work. As much as I am for entertaining all the accusations I am only willing to shell out a minimal amount of work on my part to disprove it. I just don't care enough.

What I propose is that we clean this up. I am offering to play you online (or live), in a proctored setting, for any stake you choose. If, in fact, your 2.0 online PR is real

I thought my last listed PR was a 2.2 or 2.3. I honestly don't remember but it would make a difference.

My suggestion is that we play a large set of 7 or 9 point matches

I believe the vast majority of my online matches that made up the above quoted PR were 5 point matches. I believe that could matter because I have the take points, gammon values, etc... memorized cold from 5a 5a and in.

You write with brash/confident tone, bordering on arrogant.

I appreciate the 'bordering on'... it's okay to call a spade a spade, I don't mind. =)

And you have made no secret of the fact that you consider yourself to be the best player in the world

This is simply not true. Any time anyone has asked me that I can recall, and feel free to direct me to where I state otherwise, is that I am amongst the best players in the world. I usually say I imagine there are roughly 10 people, maybe less, in that grouping.

There still would be no pressure in this situation. It still doesn't exist for me in something like backgammon or hearts but that's a different thread altogether.

I will get back to you on the rest of it. You have already cost me one drink, I will put it on your life tab.
