Evidence against Lance Armstrong

Regarding Lance Armstrong, I watched the report yesterday on PBS's “The News Hour” (formerly MacNeil-Lehrer). As best I can remember, this is what they report: A reporter for Sports Illustrated said that the US Anti-doping Agency has blood samples from 2010. Under current practice, it can test these samples for certain chemical markers. We are talking about normal chemicals that appear in all blood samples. A high amount of variability in these markers, however, as measured over time, is consistent with doping. A person who is not doping does not demonstrate variablity. These tests are accepted as proof of doping. The samples from Armstrong show this variability.
Nevertheless, my understanding is that there are no positive tests for banned substances.
A equally damning fact is the sworn testimony before a Federal Grand Jury of a handful of his former team members. Even George Hincapie, long-time team stalwart, is said to have implicated Armstrong. See, for instance, this story from the NY Times.
