I think we should be able to work something out. One thing you may not like though is I refuse to have a proctor. I'll happily set up any sort of web cam configuration to record everything from head, shoulders, knees and toes but nobody is coming into my room and watch me play backgammon. That's just ridiculous. I also know that if Mary or Chris came over and I was playing you guess what would happen? Some interesting decision would come up and we'd talk about it after I made my move. I'd probably get side tracked on variants and what ifs while playing. You will still have to worry about someone watching us play, inputting my moves as we go along, and then me using my Mission Impossible ear piece to get the right answers. Can you live with that?
And the suggestion that you aren’t trying your hardest in late round tournament matches, with cash prizes at stake, defies all reason
I missed this the first time around because I was in a hurry. Who ever suggested that as an excuse? That's donkey. (hope it wasn't me)
If you take a step back I believe you will see that it is impossible for any objective observer to not have suspicions, given the discrepancy in the results
I've never minded suspicions. I have lived with them my entire life. While they are tiresome and I want to give Lance Armstrong a sympathetic pat on the back for his current situation, you're going to have them if someone excels the perceived 'too much'. What I do mind is someone renigging on a bet because they're Canadian.
... In fact, I can not imagine why a truly great player would reject this proposal.
You can't, really? I can come up with lots of valid reasons for rejecting this proposal.
