If I were in Stick's position, I wouldn't want a proctor either. The presence of someone else in the room is a major psychological distraction.

Conversely, if you think that the presence of a proctor eliminates the possibility of cheating, then you might want to take some lessons from an accomplished close-up magician.

I'm wondering, is there enough interest in this event that one could "sell tickets" to it? If so, then the costs of having the Phipps-Rice showdown in person could be covered by the ticket sales.
