Daniel is right about what I was interested in.

Stick, if someone wanted to know which was better, 65R-51S or 65R-51$, would you recommend playing out the position and dispensing with any bot rollouts? Playing out the position would certainly give you an intuitive feeling for the difference between the two plays, which you wouldn't get even if you rolled it out 3 million times by machine, as Ken has. But it wouldn't give you the solid quantitative information you would want to develop a library of reference positions on which to build opening theory.

By the way, if I were really serious about building a library of reference positions like Kit's Encyclopedia, 1000 games wouldn't be enough since I don't know of a way to apply variance reduction to this kind of thing. However, it's enough to show that I dramatically underestimated the number of takable redoubles.
