(1) How about 21/15 instead, not so much to duplicate 3's but because you need the checker to come around a little faster to cover your home board, and for double coverage on White's 5-3 or 5-2.

(3) I'd double. A few double blotting numbers coming up, anything else except good doublets leaves White in a position unlikely to be brought home safely, and quite a few doubled gammons to win the match with.
