I am confused.

I am confused. I am confused why it is O.K. to have a proctor in one case but not in another. What I am even more confused is why would Stick direct a proctored event if,quoting him,"this is just ridiculous". Of course, he may meant it is ridiculous to have a proctor in his room. How about other places?

Dmitriy, that was my line of thought as well.

But we have to keep in mind that:

1) There's a difference between signing up (volunteering) to play a proctored event, and being forced to participate in (private) proctored play due to circumstantial allegations.

2) Stick was the TD for the qualifier, and probably part of the team designing the tournament/reviewing tournament regulations and properties, BUT HE DID NOT PLAY himself. I can easily see a TD directing something he wouldn't choose to play himself (eg. high stakes tournament, speedgammon, etc).

That said, the contrast is very easy to notice!
