Thanks for your response. I'd say that 'arbitrary' decisions are as likely to produce 'meaningful' results as throwing bricks in the air and expecting them to land as a house. Outplays shouldn't have been given such distorting power, as there's nothing intrinsically special about them, but at least you've explained why the PR bar was set 2.5 points higher than any human being can actually reach, and therefore why everybody's* 'average elo' according to XG, is 100 / 150 points behind their 'current elo' - also according to XG!
More rational would have been to feed XG the games of a world champion, and tell it that whatever standard of play it found in those games equalled a PR of 0.0, and an elo of whatever-elo-he-had.
* this is an assumption, but a logical one.
