If XG is playing a clocked match it should spend more time on the difficult plays. But how would it know what are difficult plays for it? Here is an idea for doing that and it could run while the opponent is thinking. The better that the bot "understands" a position the more effective the variance reduction would be. So do a rollout of the current position and look at how much variance is left after a certain number of rolls. The lower this is indicates a better understanding. A very high value would indicate to use more time on the current game.

Would that RO be able to take advantage of the numerous cores?
