I'm right on the periphery of gnubg development, so I can't really answer that. I did a lot of the last set of rollouts, and it was a mammoth effort. With newer PCs we should be able to get higher-ply rollouts in similar time.

When I'm back off holiday I'll see if there's any discussions in the gnubg discussion forum.
