impossible vs illegal

If we just played "legal moves" all of these problems would be eliminated, along with several others that haven't been mentioned.
Now, there are some problems created by playing "legal moves" but they are no where near as bad as the problems created by allowing illegal (and impossible) moves and they don't come up as often.
Chiva has changed his rules to legal moves, and many of us agree, by handshake, to play legal moves, and I hope and expect that the rest of the world will come around eventually.
I have debated this issue with many people and so far I have only come across two three people that did not agree with me and did not change their mind after a full discussion of the pros and cons of both.
If backgammon were a democracy and if the players had rights, I have no doubt what the rules would be, and people would not lose a match because they hit their own checker, or forgot to roll when the 6 point opened, or accidentally lifted the dice slightly off the table before they finished their move, or all kinds of other crap that should not be a part of this game and that forces the other player to determine whether he should enforce the rules or "be a good sport." I don't want to be in that position and I don't want to put my opponent in that position, and playing legal moves pretty much eliminates those problems (and others).
