Difference between intermediate vs. Open

Stick, at GammonGo, apart from keeping the pressure at the midpoint, wouldn't you want to consider 8/4 instead of 4/2(2), bringing better distribution towards closing the board.

I'm certain it must yield more gammons, but not certain that it is the best play - surely you would have to consider it?

I'm asking, because if you wouldn't want to spend time on that move (quickly dismissing it), I'm curious to hear what you think gives it away so easy?
