Hand recording while on the clock

I agree 100% with you Chuck.

For the same reason, the DBgF rules about recording and notation states that:

1) Any live notation must be done by a third party (by hand or PC).

2) Any notation of a position (by hand or camera), must be done AFTER the player has made his move/decision, and in a clocked match while his time is still running. (ie. you make or state you play, you take your picture, you hit the clock).

3) When live recording on a pc, even by a third person, the program (typically XG) must be setup so that NO analysis of any kind is visible to the person recording, including pip-counts and background analysis/error rate display.

If any of the above is not adhered to, a match sent it will not be accepted for norming.

Furthermore, if a player video records a match and enter it afterwards, he/she must keep the videofiles for a couple of weeks, in order for any disputes to be settled about the transscription. The tournament committee reviews matches that are close to the mark, to see if suspect dice has been entered to lower the PR, and can ask the player to provide the video file for a given game/match as a random check.
