I also don't buy it. I've transcribed a few matches by hand myself and must admit I found it a bit distracting.

I can maybe understand that self-transcribed matches won't be accepted for bot norms, since it's easier to get away with tampering with the results, but not for any advantage obtained from the transcribing itself.

I also think the argument that looking at the position through a camera could give an advantage is bullshit, but I think it's good that there are some rules in place about the procedure.
