Because Blue is 8 pips down after the play, Blue should consider playing for a shot as long he remains behind in the race and White's board doesn't become so threatening that it's no longer wise to play loosely for a shot. Blue will get more shots split as he is than anchored on the 20 point.
22/20 takes the pressure off. It lets White play 3's, 4's, 9's and 10's safely behind Blue's anchor. If Blue stays split, Blue gets an immediate shot only if White rolls 6-3 or 2-1, but there are probably quite a few numbers that can be played safely for turn, but which create more blotting numbers on later rolls. For example, if White's next turn is 64: 8/2 6/2, then 64 63 62 54 53 and 31 blot on White's next turn plus one.
