Hello
Nice problem. Seems to be three options
- 5 point
- Double Hit
- Split & Hit
Other than identifying the options, I have very little clue about the right answer.
OTB, I would make the 5 point mainly because it is the move I would least like to see as white. It makes the 5 point and a 4 point prime with the opportunity to extend. Blues timing is better.
The double hit is also attractive but leaves you trying to blitz on one side of the board and while desperate to escape a checker on the other.
The Split & Hit is the one I find hardest to discount - mainly because I always get pinged for not splitting the back checkers by XG. My problem with the move here is that it seems like an invitation for trouble - 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 23, 26, 33, 35, 36, 56 all put blue on the bar against a 4 point board and possibly a 5 point prime whilst leaving other blots to be picked off.
I will post an XG++ analysis of this on Friday or Saturday plus any variations I think of.
