Chess cheating

I never understand what satisfaction someone gets from winning by cheating. It makes no sense to me. I was directly right there with the whole redtop thing and played his wack ass many times. He would always join these obscure tourneys on MSN gaming zone in "hider" nick names because he was banned from the Zone Championship Series. He was desperate to qualify. MSN had another player who you can look up on grid gammon named TimAway who played at a sub 2 level on snowie 4. He eventually played a match on webcam because everyone thought he was cheating. Think he may have gotten a 2.2 in that match.
