He was also giving some lessons for money; he was being paid to come to tournaments to record matches, and while there he gave lessons (I believe) to some beginners. He talked a good game. He had read Robertie and Magriel and could quote them pretty well...he just couldn't play very well and was a fraud.

It was really a shame, because he came across as such a nice guy and was a big organizer and did things to grow the game...it's just that he was a liar and a crook.
