In this position, I believe the discussion should cover 24/18 13/8, 24/13, 13/8 13/7 and 13/7 6/1*. I'd play 18 and 8. I'd also include a companion position in which opp has the 11 point instead of a blot (use a spare from the mid), then I'd play 13/7 6/1*. Then you can also discuss the score implications, and you'd have an interesting set of positions.
