61 Checker play

Well...

White does not have the timing for a backgame. He also does not have yet the structure for a winning forward game yet, so if blue wants to "try something" he should do it now. That something would be 13/7 8/7. After this play I do not actually think white will hit from his 21 unless he can also cover the 5 point with a 3. If he hits with another number then blue's gammons go way up while I do not believe blue will really loose many more games.

So risk is not too big. Since white is far behind in the race he will not move unless he has to, OR unless he rolls 33 66. So by making the bar Blue's gain is not really that he will escape, but that white will not be able to advance to his 18. He will have 33 and 66 for a lot of turns if u do not make the bar point, but he will have the hitting jokers for 1 turn only. So while white's gain after a hitting joker is probably bigger than the gain of advancing one of his anchors, the second scenario is much more possible.
