OT - Ryder Cup?

He urged the crowd to cheer while teeing off? That is interesting. I'm an athletics fan myself, and remember the time when crowds were urged to be quiet when an athlete prepared to jump (e.g. in triple-jump). This changed in the eighties when Willie Banks started the habit of asking the public to clap rhythmically during his jump-preparation. Now everybody is doing it. Some athletes don't like it, others encourage it. This type of spectator involvement certainly helps to create a great atmosphere at the event. I believe it makes the sport more popular. By-the-way: Willie Banks, now 56, just performed a 183 cm high-jump. How about some spectator cheering at the first roll of a backgammon match?
