OT - Ryder Cup?

Of course the last 5 holes on Saturday was a peak. In his single he was struggling a bit with his game, missing quite a few fairways and some of them by a wide margin. Up until the last 5 holes on Saturday, he was not below par (I think he was +1 for the first 13 holes).
If you compare to his level in the 2010 Ryder Cup, you'll see why he this year was a captain's pick, not a qualifier.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a very big Poulter fan, I just think he had to dig deep this year to get the momentum rolling.
I know he has turned into quite the match-play specialist, winning both the Accenture in '10 and the Volvo WMPC in '11. If his long game and consistency had been "at his best", he wouldn't have had to birdie 5 straight to squeeze out a win ;-)

You can really never blame a player for not giving a put in matchplay. At least not if there's still something riding on the match. And in the situation Woods-Molinari, I think there's quite a lot of difference between 14 and 14.5 points, no matter that the Cup would go to Europe anyway.
