I think you have misunderstood something.

It's never bad sportsmanship to not concede a putt:

- if it's really a gimme, then it should be no problem to just tap it in - no harm done.

- if it's not really a gimme, then it shouldn't be conceded. Especially when there's something riding on the putt. Here Woods' putt was the difference between a draw or a win. Because of Woods' choke job this will go down in history as a win for the European side. I think any professional will rather win than draw, regardless of the sport.

If you want to discuss sportsmanship, then I think you should bring up the behavior of the US spectators. They have a history of harassing some of the European players, most noteably Monty. This year, Sergio Garcia had to put up with so much crap than some of the US commentators at SI have stated that they we're hoping that he would win his matches because of it.
