OT - Ryder Cup?

I have to disagree. I consider myself a good sport, and yes I know the Ryder Cup allows one to retain the Ryder Cup Title with a tie but if I was a captain I would also take into account the fact that were not talking about blowing out the other team for the sake of blowing them out.
Why does halving the whole or winning it outright matter? Because it is the difference between the Americans being able to say "We didn't lose the Ryder Cup, we tied, and the Europeans won on a technicality", and them having to say "We lost". I believe when pride is on the line, that IS a big deal, and I see nothing unsportsmanlike to want an outright victory to make who really won clear.
Ryder Cup on home soil, Americans blowing a big lead, and the Europeans winning outright (not on a technicality) is probably embarrassing, and the bad feelings should not be directed at what the Europeans did wrong, but how their own American team choked so badly.
