Because you are only 7 pips down in the race after the roll. That means that you have a lot of racing equity, but you will have that from the 20 anchor, and much less from the 22.

Second, it is a timing issue - with the race as close as it is, you will often be forced from the 22 anchor before getting any shots, or you will bust you board so that the hits are not that good for you.

If you have two BG boards, play it out on both, using duplicated dice. I think you'll see what I mean.
