DQ: How do you play the 2?

So you play 16/10 and look for a 2. You don't want to play 10/8, because you want to clear the 8 point, not put a third checker on it. 4/2 doesn't look terrible, just ... what for? And since you can't play 3's from the 6 point, you don't want to lose a playable 3. 6/4 on the other hand looks bad to me. You can play more numbers from the 6 point than the 4 point. You wouldn't mind making the 5 point, either, and 6/4 loses a builder.
Mainly, though, you just want to get done with your bear-in while White has two on the bar.
16/10 8/6 is the play. You have four builders for the 5 point instead of three. You don't make any checker more inflexible. But the main point in favor of this play is, I think, that it leaves you only four checkers outside instead of five, after which you should complete your bear-in quickly. Next roll, with 14/36 numbers, you'll make the 5 point. If not, even numbers bear in safely from the 10 and 8 points and odd numbers bear in safely from the 7 point. 5-5 is your only problem number, but it plays worse after the other plays.
