Othello's official rollouts

I hope that Othello does a long rollout with strong settings. If I recall correctly, he didn't last year. Since, as you say, he typically picks positions where the top play is very clearly separated from the others, the settings are very unlikely to change the top play, and my understanding is that the official score just gives you 1 point for picking the top play and 0 points otherwise. So it's not going to make a difference for the official quiz, but like you, I find the actual equity estimates interesting.
By the way, knowing that the top play is clearly separated from the others can sometimes help the solver. If you see a play that you like but see that there's another play that must be close, then that's usually a sign that you're on the wrong track. Of course this principle won't help you in many of the problems, and there's always the risk of wrongly assuming that two plays are very close when they aren't!
