If we leave a gap on the 1pt then we're off in two rolls as long as we don't roll a 1 (or 32 followed by 42). If we leave a gap on the 2pt then there are ways to lose even if we don't roll a 2, for example by rolling a 1 twice.

If you leave the gap on the acepoint, then you need to not roll an ace twice, though. If you play 2/1 then if you don't roll an ace or a deuce only 21 will miss next roll.
