I will be quite honest (and it's no secret) I'm not big on match play. Not that I don't enjoy them, but I would love longer matches, I've never been able to get into 3-5-7 pt. matches where any luckbox who can play decently can beat you. I let it aggrivate me too much. Anyway...
I memorized -5 -5 and in. It's not that much memorization, anything outside of that is similar to money play in most circumstances and common sense will lead you quite a ways. [things like knowing when to double aggressively if you're trailing and there's a sniff of gammon in the air or when you're leading sometimes it may be better to take a roll than give up cube ownership, etc...]
I think if you want to study 'special scores' the best thing to do is either play online [if you play online for money] or against your favorite bot, play DMP games til your heart is content. After that move to the next score that interests you, maybe you trailing -4 -3 or -4 -2 and notice how aggressively you should be using the cube. Just some suggestions, I'm sure others who are better match players will have some ideas.
