Just for the record I considered shifting immediately. It's dmp. A late game shift when the position is otherwise home safely while the opponent is on the bar is very common. To shift or not will depend on how many men the opponent has on the bar thus affecting how many immediate shots you leave and how close to home all your men are after the shift. You often want to push the opponent out of your hair in these situations.
