Your play of 9, 5, 2(2) wouldn't even be my second choice. It allows too much long term equity by not being able to either close the ace point or push the opponent forward. The other plays leave either a ton of builders to make the ace point or switches points immediately so you can play quietly and safely behind the opponent to bring it home.

The opp's lack of development may be in play here too. Whenever I see multiple spares stacked on the same low point I see long term fugly and try to find another play.
