Falafel, if you are planning to get "That Surgery" to lose the weight, you need to first talk with some people who have done it. I know several people who have, and the results have been scattered, to put it mildly. Admittedly, the people I know who had the operation are a small sample, and all of them are of the female persuasion, which means what I've heard isn't anything close to the whole story. But one woman ended up nearly dying from blood clots, a complication of the surgery. If the hospital hadn't kept her an extra day, she would have died the day they sent her home. Another successfully lost weight, but had to have additional surgery a year later, and is about to go back and get complications from that fixed--and that's new news, I talked to her just last week. And yes, one of the ones I knew died from aftereffects of the surgery.

So whatever line you get, don't put so much money on it that you feel obliged to get this surgery to avoid ending up living in a cardboard box in Rittenhouse Square. If you are running out of time on the bet, I volunteer to make Matt some of my nice pumpkin cookies, and not give you any!
