It's due to the match score. Normally, slotting is a risk worth taking because the advantage you gain when it works (i.e. you aren't hit) outweigh the downside of when it doesn't. But, at this match score you don't realize the advantage because your opponent will simply drop when she misses.

Since slotting gains you nothing, it's better to split.
