At first glance this 22 is a point you wouldn't like to break as there 4 different builders aiming at you which it too many. However what is the alternative in terms of timing? Whatever you play (7/1,6/1 or 7/1,7/1) don't buy you enough time and white's time is plenty...

In addition the score helps you to break 22 as you don't care about getting gammoned or doubles

Timing seems to be one of the most critical factors (if not the most) in such a variety of cases. Robertie in his book "Modern Backgammon" emphasizes this a lot.
