In this type of holding game, where Blue coming in against the anchor has a reasonably large lead in the race, and White has a good offense, you generally double when you can take advantage of several doubles to reach a position from where you will leave only few shots, and where the race lead is sufficient to be a strong racing favorite.
Now look at your position: the two blots and the spare on the mid make it very difficult to use your doubles effectively (only 44 and 22 truly play well). Also, having the 9 point without having the bar means that clearing the midpoint safely in itself does not mean leaving few shots, you still need to clear the outfield points.
Roll, consolidate, and evaluate again next turn. If nothing bad happens (so you clear your blots and retain your race lead), you are likely to have a double on the next roll or the roll thereafter.
