Tell me WHY

It is difficult to give a clear why - but let me try. You are hemmed in with three checkers back, have a low anchor, and have a very bad race. It is very difficult to counter-prime building a prime naturally, because your position is stacked and your roll does not play well.
If you slot both points and are missed, you have a chance to build a counter-prime. If you are hit, you may make a second anchor and get enough timing to play from there, or get better timing for a deuce-point game. You don't need to fear getting many checkers sent back, because you face only a 4-point prime, one that is difficult to extend rapidly.
