This is exactly the reasoning. Such plays are often routine at DMP, but due to extra gammons are not often seen when gammons matter. I would not blot here, but would not be too surprised if it turns out to be correct.

Yes, I also knew to make these plays at DMP, but would never had considered it at a normal score. It matters that you have a chance to anchor up quite high, which makes racing chances just reasonable enough. Variation:
