playing blind backgammon

In 1983, after the 1st Cavendish Invitational, six of us rode back to Vegas in my Chevy to play in that year's Plimpton (won by Sly). Besides me there was Munchkin, Steve Sax, my roommate Peter Wagner, Nack Ballard, and Lorien I-don't-think-I-ever-knew-her-last-name, Nack's girlfriend.
Nack had been approached to play someone, and the spot his opponent wanted was that Nack play blindfolded. We set up a board in my living room, and another roommate, Tim Wisecarver, played Nack, who had his back to the board. For the heck of it I also kept my back to the board, just to see if I could do it. It was tough, but doable, though I think there was one point where we needed a refresher, as we had something wrong in the position.
Nothing ever came of the bet.
