The clock should be stopped only by Director or his aide. Stopping the clock or centering the cube is a sign of resignation. Directors should warn players to be careful with clock and cube and in severe cases impose penalties - time fines or point fines. When friendly notes between players are not productive, tourney management should be approached. Alas, at one's own time. With the clock ticking our own time.

It is only polite to ask permission for shooting a match, position or hand recording a position. Likewise it is impolite to refuse. Directors may decide either way as the situation requires. Suppose a clumsy finalist of a big tournament spoils the show by taking pictures too often.
