Yea, but this is not 3a 7a or greater nor is it an earlier position in the game which John's initial cube would have had to have been. (not his cube personally, but in the diagram he posted, wouldn't want anyone to take it wrong ;-)

Once you hit such a late stage in the game even at these lopsided scores you'll be in a mutually low gammonish position and in the case of holding games, a high win %, making cubes much easier to give even as the leader.
