I agree with the advantages of playing online, but would include the following disadvantages:

(1) Usually the matches are less important and therefore less worthy of your best effort; (2) You may be multitasking while playing; (3) You can be interrupted by phone, messages, family, animals, doorbell, etc. (4) Playing when very tired is more common, unless you take all your online play very seriously, which most people don't.
