We can't afford to leave a double shot, so we must lift the blot. That aside, I'm not too worried about leaving many blots, since gammons don't cost us.

Should we also lift the blot on the eight, since it's got nothing to cover and we can get it into attack range with 8/6 7/4? The downside is that it allows White to come out to the bar point safely, without offering a direct shot. Staying on the eight gains on White's subsequent 62, 63, 64 and 65; it loses a little on 61.

If we stay on the eight point we can play 18/15, 15/12 or 15/13 along with our blot-lift. Comparing the 12 and 13 points; the 13 helps us on 65 and maybe even 66, so it seems better. 18/15 looks like even better coverage should White escape, and doesn't really harm out flexibility.

I'm down to a choice between 18/15 7/5 and 8/6 7/4. Looking ahead, since White is likely to attack us, we might well prize a loose hit to relieve the pressure. Bringing two men into attacking range gives us the best chance in that scenarion, so I'm going with 8/6 7/4.
