6/off 5/off speeds up your bearoff at the cost of leaving more shots next roll. As long as you don't get hit, you're a big favorite to win the game, so the safer 6/off 6/1 should win more often. However, 6/off 5/off should win more gammons. I find it difficult to judge the win/gammon tradeoff but I think here you win enough gammons to make 6/off 5/off the better play. White may dance a couple of times and then she has to scramble two checkers home to get off the gammon.
